Shave a Pomeranian Again

From ye olde Stomped Monster blog on Blogspot.com

In like a lion, out like a lamb!
Gizmo got his annual haircut last weekend. He has been getting cuts since 2009, when we noticed he was sluggish, panting and overall miserable in the summer heat. These breeds were put together in colder climates. We want Giz to get lots of exercise as he gets on in years, and a shave in the summer offers him some relief.

Aaaaaah!

See how eager he is to get started? Okay, sitting in one spot being brushed and clipped isn't exactly his idea of fun. He'll thank me later. For those ready to poo-poo the shaving of pomeranians... he was just yawning. Relax.

By now, Gizmo knows the deal. He sits in one spot, patiently waiting for it to be over. He dashed inside when the family traffic headed that way, but other than that he was very cool about it. There were some folks who were concerned with how we shaved our pom. Again, I use a long blade, leaving the undercoat intact. He isn't shaved down to the skin. Thanks for the concern, but his coat is looking the same as always.

Once finished, Gizmo got lots of treats and special attention. Probably what he kept repeating to himself during the shave. He has been more active since the trim, ruthlessly sneak attacking Riley and generally smacking us all in the face. How precious.

Loves it!

Riley approves: "Yes, yes. Quite nice."
